Teacher Housing Update 2016
Construction of Teacher housing at JPSS – 2016 Update! We are so grateful to everyone who helped raise the necessary funds for the teacher housing at JPSS during the Brick-by-Brick Campaign. Because of your generosity, construction has begun and great progress is being made. We could never do it without you! We expect the housing to be completed by the end of February 2017…just in time for the beginning of the school term! As you will see from the photos, construction in this part of the world is not easy. Much of the work is done manually and depends a lot on the weather as well. When the rain comes,…

First a Student—–Now a Teacher
We are so excited to share this amazing story with all of you. In 2007, John Paul Secondary School first opened its doors to 14 eager students. One of those students was Lawrence Omongin. He studied at JPSS for four years and then moved on to higher education. We’re very pleased to announce that Lawrence completed his studies last year and joined the staff at JPSS as a Physics teacher! Lawrence, you are an excellent example to all the students at JPSS. They will look up to you and see that if they study hard they too can someday come back to JPSS as one of the great teachers! Congratulations…

John Paul Secondary School Needs Your Help – by Tim Blackwell
In 2007, Paul and Nancy Berrigan of Farmington Hills, Michigan began building a school in Chelekura, Uganda. It was their dream then, as it is today, to help provide educational opportunities for children living in that disconnected part of the world. When John Paul Secondary School first opened its doors nine years ago, 14 students were registered for classes. Today, enrollment for both boys and girls is over 200. Since project inception, the Berrigans have dedicated themselves to making sure the school provides the best education available for teenage students who are interested in pursuing a career in science. The newly built science center is a perfect example of their…

Building Housing for the Teachers – Brick by Brick!
John Paul Secondary School in Chelekura Uganda is in desperate need of teacher housing! Due to the lack of on campus housing, teachers must travel long distances to-and-from school daily. During the long rainy season roads frequently become impassable and the teachers cannot get to the school. If there are no teachers, the students suffer and fall behind in their studies. Also, teacher housing will help us to attract the best teachers from a much wider area, further improving our students’ education. Please check out our CrowdRise fundraiser via the link below and be sure to watch the video for a closer look at Chelekura, Uganda – God bless! Brick…
