November 2008 Trip
In November, 2008, I was fortunate to be able to return to Uganda for a short visit to Chelekura to check on the progress at John Paul School. A visit to an African school by a patron from the United States, even a short one, cannot be a small affair. And all visits begin with a Mass of celebration. School Dedication
The day we dedicated John Paul Secondary School started early. By 8AM we had showered, primped, eaten and were on the road headed to Chelekura. Bishop Odongo, his driver, Nancy and I led the way in the bishop’s SUV while our friends Jim and Linda with Sister Salome and their driver followed in another. There was a high level of anticipation as we spent the next hour driving into the deepest, darkest, heart of Africa.
