Exam Season at JPSS: An Important Step Toward the Future
Exam season is underway in Uganda, marking an important milestone for our students at John Paul School. Our 165 Senior Four students are taking their Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) examinations, while our 99 Senior Six students are making their final preparations for the Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE) examinations in November.
These national exams bring together years of classroom learning, practical work, and preparation. They also help shape what comes next for each student.
Several Weeks of Focus and Hard Work
The UCE written examinations began on Monday, October 12, and continue through Tuesday, November 3—just over three weeks. Senior Six students will attend their UACE briefing on Friday, November 6, before beginning written examinations on Monday, November 9. Those exams are scheduled to continue through Thursday, November 26.

Students follow a national timetable based on their subjects, with exams scheduled on weekdays in morning and afternoon sessions. Some days include two papers, requiring hours of concentration. Many UACE papers last approximately three hours, while some science practicals run for three hours and fifteen minutes. Each student’s final exam date depends on the subjects they take.
Between papers, students must balance revision with rest while maintaining their focus throughout a demanding examination period.
Opening Doors to the Next Stage
The UCE marks the completion of four years of secondary education. It helps shape students’ next steps, including advanced secondary studies or vocational and technical training.
The UACE follows two additional years of advanced secondary education. Results play an important role in admission to universities and other higher education programs, helping students pursue the qualifications needed for their chosen careers.
For our students, these exams are a significant step toward greater independence and the opportunity to contribute to their families and communities. Reaching this stage reflects their persistence, the commitment of their teachers, and the encouragement of those who support their education.

A Community Behind Every Student
Our Friends of John Paul School supporters are part of that journey. Your generosity helps provide the educational opportunities that allow students to learn, prepare, and work toward their goals.
As our students complete this important stage, thank you for helping them reach it. We look forward to sharing their progress and celebrating their accomplishments.
During these demanding weeks, we also invite you to keep our students in your prayers. Please pray for good health, calm minds, confidence, and the stamina to do their best. We, and they, appreciate you very much!
