Our 10th Annual Wine Tasting Fundraiser!

The 10th Annual Wine Tasting Fundraiser, benefitting the students at John Paul Secondary School, was held on October 3rd, 2024, at the chic Silver Spoon Ristorante. Again, this year, a nearly sold-out crowd attended.

In addition to our many loyal returning guests, we were extremely happy to welcome 12 new first-time guests as well as guests from 8 different states! Once again, Rito Lisi and his staff at the Silver Spoon Ristorante provided five delicious small plates which were accompanied by five outstanding wines from Spain! This year’s event was our most profitable, raising an amazing $38,700.

Back again, by popular demand were a variety of beautiful assorted Ugandan baskets from the local areas in Uganda. In addition, there were small beaded purses and Christmas cards made by the students at John Paul Secondary School for purchase. By purchasing these items, our guests were provided an additional way to support the students while enjoying a beautiful gift.

Presentations were given throughout the evening by Founder/ President Paul Berrigan, Liz Comerford Treasurer, and Nancy Berrigan Founder/Secretary. Paul spoke briefly about the growth of JPSS from its opening in 2007 up to the present time and the effects the school has had on the students and the local community of Chelekura.

Liz presented an update on the Ugandan Educational System, the student attrition rate, and how we can help this crisis. JPSS provides Hungerford Scholarships to local S1 students who meet the qualifications but cannot afford the tuition.

JPSS offers a quality and comprehensive education to our students with our outstanding faculty and headmaster. This is why JPSS was ranked #1 in the Pallisa School District for the last two years!
