JPSS Update – Finally, Good News

The COVID pandemic has had a tremendous impact on students and parents here in the USA . . . but for the students of Uganda, it has been devastating!   The government’s extreme shutdown did keep the virus from spreading and the death rate has been kept low but has had catastrophic effects on schools and students. Ugandan students have missed an entire year of studies. They don’t have the option of virtual or distance learning. Most do not have computers or internet at home; many don’t even have electricity.

Finally, some Good News! As of October 15th, the government has given permission for three grades to open…. Primary 7 (P7), Secondary 4 (S4) and 6 (S6). We’re happy to announce JPSS has met the many rigorous requirements mandated by the Ministry of Education and opened the two candidate classes (S4 and S6). Thus far, 129 students have returned and we’re expecting to receive others in due course.

The staff of JPSS appreciates the sacrifices that you make for their wellbeing and Thank YOU for your generous support during these uncertain times. Please continue to keep the students and teachers at JPSS in your prayers.
