2015 Wine Tasting Fundraiser
We hosted our first Wine Tasting Dinner Fundraiser on September 12, 2015. The event took place in Plymouth, MI at the Courthouse Grille Restaurant. The wines were donated by Thurston Wolfe Wines. Everyone who attended enjoyed a great meal, tasted delicious wines, and had a very enjoyable and fun evening.
Our event sold out and we had 80 attend the Wine Tasting Dinner. A portion of the ticket cost was a donation to our charity – “Friends Of John Paul School”. We also sold wine after the dinner and portion of those proceeds were donated to our charity. In addition, we also sold baskets which were purchased in Uganda and were hand dyed and made by local artisans. As a thank-you for attending, each guest was given a bark cloth bookmark with representation of parts of Uganda stitched on them.
We feasted on a fabulous dinner, sampled wonderful wines, meet and reconnected with great people. Our goal was to raise money for our future plans to continue to promote the education and development of the students of the John Paul Secondary School! Our future plans for the school are:
- Build a second dorm to be able to offer boarding to more students.
- Build housing for the teachers.
- Obtain solar electricity and outfit the computer lab.
Sam Messina of The Courthouse Grille and his staff were amazing. Sam has been a supporter of the School from the first time he heard the story about the John Paul Secondary School. Thurston Wolfe Wines was so very generous to donate the wines we tasted and a portion of their wines sales proceeds to our charity. Thanks to our Board Member Patrice Swofford for coordinating the wine selections and our introduction to Thurston Wolfe Wines. Everyone who attended had a wonderful evening filled with amazing food, wonderful wines, laughter and good times spent with friends. We appreciate everyone who attended, those who were unable to attend but sent a donation and for each dollar that was raised the proceeds go to the continued improvement and success of the John Paul Secondary School.
Thank-you to the hard work of Paul and Nancy Berrigan and Liz and Eoin Comerford for their hard work to make this event a huge success!
